Unique fitness machines offer improved rehabilitation

Supplier: MuJo Fitness

More MuJo Fitness details
MuJo's internal shoulder machine
The world’s first range of fitness machines which allow users to perform controlled multi-axial exercises though all ranges of motion has been launched by Multiple Joint Fitness Systems (MuJo).

MuJo says the equipment will facilitate improvements in performance and rehabilitation after injury or surgery, and the company is already partnering with a number of Premiership football clubs both in direct sales and research.

“These machines provide a real solution to the growing need for personalised and efficient care for people with musculoskeletal issues, be it in the health, sports or leisure sectors,” said Gary Oleinik, commercial director at MuJo.

An initial range will feature two stations, for the internal and external shoulder, which were first unveiled as prototypes in 2012.

The ability to provide multi-axial exercises through all ranges of motion is made possible by the invention of multi-axial cam technology, which was developed by Mujo managing director Doug Higgins while conducting research into spinal injuries in rugby union. This unique cam technology underpins all MuJo machines.

The launch of two products this year will be followed by the unveiling of a further four lower limb stations covering glute, knee, groin and hamstring at FIBO in spring 2015. MuJo will also introduce a software solution next year that will allow the prescription of rehabilitation exercises and real-time tracking of progress by surgeons and physiotherapists, while connecting to existing secure Electronic Health Records to enable comparison of rehabilitation.
